Our antique and recycled kimono help dispel the myth that kimono = expensive.
We have many kinds of kimono, from recent ones to vintage pieces, but older ones are cheaper, even the obi, and the dyeing and weaving is just as good. Even students can buy a full set with just their spending money.
Cotton and wool kimono are especially cheap and resilient, so you can wear them all the time with no worries.
The 2nd floor of ochicochiya is full of antique and recycled kimono.
Sometimes we even have great finds available at clearance prices, starting at just 1,000 yen!

We repaired the hem of the silk kimono of Meisen about 80 years ago.
Stitch by stitch is carefully sewn together.
The lining of this kimono was full of stains, so we replaced it with a new one.
We only charge about ¥2,500 for the cloth we use.
Dyeing
If you have a kimono that you don’t think suits you, then you can re-dye it and totally change its mood. At our shop, we can also provide re-dyeing alterations.

On the right here is the original red fabric, and on the left is the same fabric that we dyed grey.
We also changed the customer’s red sash, that they used in their 20s, to a darker, rouge-colored one!
